Live: Liverpool 1 - 1 Havant (Lucas, 27)
January 26, 2008
Liverpool’s genuine first shot on goal and Lucas Leiva has been played in nicely by Ryan Babel to rocket home and tie up the game. Hopefully this will settle the lads down a bit. God knows Rafa has been going mad on the sidelines, never mind what’s been going through the mind of Liverpool’s A-Team sitting on the bench.
Just over the halfway mark in the first half, thankfully, Liverpool are back level and it’s 1-1. Game on.

Havant are a goal up within the first ten minutes.

Liverpool Team vs Havant And Waterlooville
January 26, 2008
Just about the head to kickoff against Havant in the 4th round of the FA cup and here’s the Liverpool team for the day.
Itandje, Finnan, Riise, Hyypia, Skrtel, Mascherano, Lucas, Benayoun, Pennant, Crouch, Babel.
Rafa must be feeling confident ahead of the game - Carragher, Crouch, Kuyt and Gerrard all resting on the bench alongside David Martin.
Martin Skrtel makes his full Liverpool debut while Ryan Babel and Peter Crouch will lead the attack, for the first half at least.

Peter Crouch grabs his first league goal of the season with a cracker of a goal for Liverpool.
Why, oh why, wasn’t he brought on earlier.
Can we bag a winner? We’ll certainly try!

Jesus Christ. What the hell just happened?
Looks like their giving it an own goal to Fabio Aurelio, Mellberg volleying back into the box and in three minutes, the whole game has been turned completely on it’s head.
Why isn’t Crouch on at this stage? Or Babel… BWAGH!

Live: Liverpool 1 - 1 Aston Villa (Harewood, 70mins)
January 21, 2008
Out of nothing, Marlon Harewood has come on to the pitch and got one back for Aston Villa. Balls.
Jamie Carragher has switched out to right back, with Martin Skrtel coming on to replace Alvaro Arbeloa. Would have preferred to see Crouch or Babel on at this point, especially now that it’s level.
Bugger anyway.

Live: Liverpool 1 - 0 Aston Villa (Half Time)
January 21, 2008
It’s half time at Anfield and while there are presentations being made on the pitch, Liverpool are sitting in the dressing room a goal to the good, though possibly questioning why they aren’t a bit further ahead in this race.
There have been good chances for both sides, Liverpool cashing in first with a Yossi Benayoun strike on the 18th minute after a bit of a goalmouth scramble.
A win sticks us in fourth. A Villa comeback could leave us in sixth or drop us to seventh so you can see where the importance lies in this one. Outside of the goal, it’s been mainly a Liverpool game and long may it continue.
But, it’s not over yet…

Live: Liverpool 1 - 0 Aston Villa (Benayoun, 18mins)

Savage stuff.
Yossi Benayoun shoots, has the shot blocked, takes the rebound, beats the defender on the line and bags his seventh goal of the season for Liverpool and a great first goal for the Reds against Aston Villa this evening.
A good chance from Harry Kewell before the Benayoun goal but if Liverpool keep up the pressure and the drive to go forward we should see another goal in this game yet.

Live: Liverpool 0 - 0 Aston Villa (15 mins)

No score against Aston Villa with just about a quarter of an hour gone in the first half.
The chants are still going up around the ground, the fans certainly not holding back when it comes to being vocal tonight. I had thought Crouch would start against Villa but with as he’s parked on the bench I expect we’ll see him at some stage in the second half, hopefully coming on to extend a Liverpool lead.
There have been a few pot-shots on goal so far for both sides but nothing overly threatening at this point.

Liverpool Vs Aston Villa (Team)
January 21, 2008
Liverpool are just about to kick off against Aston Villa and here’s the team for tonight.
Reina, Arbeloa, Aurelio, Hyypia, Carragher, Mascherano, Gerrard, Benayoun and Harry Kewell while Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt start up front.
On the bench are Itandje, Alonso, Crouch, Babel and Martin Skrtel who will make his Liverpool debut if he comes on.
There was a protest march before the game against the American owners handling of club affairs while there are some fairly targeted chants going up around the stadium and the Kop end.
All adds up for a great game atmosphere though.
