Live: Liverpool 4 - 1 Porto
November 28, 2007
Well that was too easy. Peter Crouch totally unmarked in the box, getting his head under a Steven Gerrard corner. Who’d have thought we’d wind up with 4 goals, let alone the win. Chance of a fifth goal?

Live: Liverpool 3 - 1 Porto
November 28, 2007
In front of the Kop, Steven Gerrard has stepped up with a chance to stick Liverpool 3-1 ahead from the spot - no problem.
Looks like game, set and match for Liverpool after just grabbing a second through Torres. A win in France against Marseille should do the trick. Nice way to wrap up the game, though, it’s not over yet…

Live: Torres Gets Second Against Porto
November 28, 2007
It wouldn’t be a Liverpool game unless there was some serious last minute action… Liverpool have gone 2-1 ahead with 12 minutes left in the game. For the last five minutes Liverpool have been relentless, chances coming through Kewell, Crough, Babel, Hyypia and finally paying off with a through ball (barely) from Kewell to Torres to fire home.

Balls to that… just when things were looking well, Lopez fires a cracker fall-away header into the back of the net. Shows why he’s currently the top scorer in the Portuguese league - some goal!
Puts a dent in the proceedings for Liverpool especially considering Besiktas are leading Marseille at the moment by the single goal. If results stay as they are, Liverpool stay bottom with 5 points, a win leaving us in third on seven.

Live: Torres Opens Scoring Against Porto
November 28, 2007
I’m watching the action at Anfield with Liverpool taking on Porto and Fernando Torres has just opened the scoring for Liverpool, rising well to head down a corner ball. The goal arrives just inside the 20 minute mark and hopefully Liverpool can build on it.
The ‘Pool haven’t had too many chances on goal so far in the first half, both sides making errors in the back as well but it’s Liverpool who draw first blood on a cold Champions League night.

Better Late Than Never, Liverpool Top Fulham
November 10, 2007
My first Saturday off in a while allowed me to catch Liverpool in action against Fulham and the game didn’t disappoint. Voronin was on form - albeit not on target, passing was good and the desire to win was there. The 2-0 scoreline was deserved and in fairness should have come a lot earlier in the game. Voronin had chances a plenty, Gerrard came close, Crouch hit the crossbar, even Sami Hyypia came close.
When the goals did come they came in the last ten minutes of the game through Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.
Torres opened first on 81 minutes, catching Anti Niemi with a low drive on the near post, Niemi helpless to see the ball skip past his left. Steven Gerrard made it 2-0 just four minutes later from the penalty spot, firing low into the right corner with Niemi diving the wrong way.
The win at Anfield is good for team morale, it’s been lacking thus far in the season. Surprise of the day of was the starting lineup - who’d have thought Rafa Benitez would actually name an unchanged side. Of course, having won 8-0 during the week should be enough to give a manager confidence in his starting eleven from a record European win and the decision to repeat the selection paid dividends today.
Next week is yet another week off due to international football, Liverpool are back in action on November 24th against Newcastle, on the road. The win today throws us three points off Arsenal and if the Gunners were to fall over in there next match, we’ve got a good race on our hands on the road to Christmas. Hopefully there’ll be more of the same against Newcastle.
