Live: Liverpool 1 - 0 Tottenham (Voronin, 13)
October 7, 2007
Andriy Voronin opens the scoring nice and early for Liverpool, Steven Gerrard’s free kick parried away by Paul Robinson for Voronin to tidy up inside six yards. No time to be resting, on the back of the last two games Liverpool need to get another goal to make sure of things early on.

Live: Liverpool vs Tottenham (Team)
October 7, 2007
Liverpool and Spurs just getting underway at Anfield, here’s the team…
Pepe Reina, Steve Finnan, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia, Alvaro Arbeloa, Jermaine Pennant, John Arne Riise, Steven Gerrard, Javier Mascherano, Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin.
On the bench or Itandje, Benayoun, Kuyt, Lucas Leiva and Ryan Babel. Nice to see Pennant there on the start and Torres and Voronin starting up front together. No look in for Peter Crouch at all.

Gerrard, Crouch, Carson In, Pennant Out
October 5, 2007
Teamtalk report this morning that Jermaine Pennant remains out of the English squad to face Russia and Estonia later in the month (Oct 13 and 17), despite a number of good performances so far this season. I’m not complaining about it at all, but it would be nice to see him back in the fold given the way he’s been performing of late.
Included however are Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch with Scott Carson also making the 27 man squad. Ex-Red Michael Owen has been included although he’s yet to fully recover from his groin injury. Injuries still lie with Frank Lampard and John Terry, both included in the squad through whether both will feature in both games remains a doubt.

Not Exactly Dashing In Europe, Are We?
October 5, 2007
The start to this year’s European campaign has been a bit frustrating, don’t you think? Starting with the draw in Porto and going down to yet another penalty, before losing at home to Marseille during the week.
In fairness, I missed the entire game during the week but we’re still on home soil this coming weekend against a Spurs side that are intent on knocking in goals to save Martin Jol’s neck and I don’t think I’m the only one hoping for a much improved performance compared to the European start.
A single point out of a possible six so far, twelve more up for grabs by the end of November - I reckon we’ll need to take nine out of twelve anyway, wouldn’t you?
