Poll: Fernando Torres Is Your Favourite Summer Signing


Well, I’ve closed the latest LiverpoolAccess.com poll, deciding to leave it run until there was at least 1,000 votes to get a fairly even spread, the poll exceeding those numbers by 115 in the last day or so. The voting is closed and the results are in. Back on July 19th I asked you who your favourite signing of the summer thus far has been and with some great matches having been played in preseason so far, the four major signings have had plenty of chances to impress.

So, the results…

  • Fernando Torres 53% (593 votes)
  • Ryan Babel 14% (160 votes)
  • Yossi Benayoun 12% (137 votes)
  • Andriy Voronin 20% (225 votes)

No surprises as our record signing of Fernando Torres tops the poll a good 33% ahead of Andriy Voronin (20%), who has made a great impression in pre-season. Ryan Babel picks it up in third with 14% of the overal vote while Yossi Benayoun trails just behind him at 12%.

    About right given (deserved) hype surrounding Torres. However I think all four of this lot will have a very important part to play in the successes over the next few years, and I especially think Voronin will make a few people eat humble pie. These are all Rafa’s first choice signings - no stop-gaps or temporary tat, class all around.

    Benayoun stood out every time I watched WH in recent years (why he was on the bench so much last year is beyond comprehension) and I see no reason his form and style of play won’t carry over if not improve under Rafa.

    Very exciting year ahead.
