Surprised to see Ryan Babel start up front in the beginning alongside Kuyt but they’ve worked well for the most part of the first half, Kuyt going closest just after the half hour mark, his effort on the back of a Jermaine Pennant cross really should have been converted but what can you do!

Pepe Reina made his one move of the first half as well, called into action five minutes later with Gary O’Neill racing 1 on 1, Reina pull off a top class save to deny O’Neill the opportunity to make it 1-0.

Torres and Gerrard starting warming up just before the end of the half to rapturous applause, no doubt the two lads presence on the pitch in the second half will make a further world of difference. Delighted too that Torres picked up his international clearance giving him the chance to get some football in before heading back to the UK.

Here’s hoping for some goals in the second half!
