Live: Liverpool 2 - 1 South China FC (Half Time)

Half time falls in Hong Kong and we’ve had a great first half. Liverpool opened the scoring with an absolute bullet of a free kick from outside the box on 10 minutes or so before Xabi Alonso doubled Liverpool’s advantage around the 27 minute mark, converting from the penalty spot after Voronin was downed in the box.

Not to be undone, South China FC stepped up through a Li Haiqiang free kick from around 40 yards out just five minutes after Liverpool’s goal. The left footed shot down a wicked swerve, skipped past Carson’s hand and into the back of the net. What can you do!

Good going so far, Liverpool on course for a place in the final against Portsmouth this Friday. Pity there’s no Torres today but he is expected to play on Friday. Roll on the second half.
