Live: Liverpool 2 - 0 South China FC (Xabi Alonso Penalty)
Over midway through the first half and we’ve just had a sweet penalty from Xabi Alonso. Andriy Voronin was taken down in the box, debate on here as to whether it was a penalty or not but the referee judged Voronin to have been impeded by the arm across the chest and Xabi Alonso wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to add a goal to his pre-season account, tucking away past the keeper.
The penalty puts Liverpool out further in front at 2-0. Fans certainly haven’t died down at all and the going is realtively easy thus far in the game, Liverpool doing well to carve chances when they can. Kewell has been limited in both possession and use so far in the half, Sissoko almost - ALMOST - made it through for a goal but no joy of breaking his Liverpool duck just yet.
