Liverpool Sign Mikel San Jose

The reserve side should certainly get a strong bolstering this season with word this morning that Liverpool have signed Athletic Bilbao central defender Mikel San Jose for around €400,000. The 18 year old was expected to break through to Bilbao’s second team this year but will instead be getting to grips with life in Liverpool after Benitez snapped up the youngster. Anything to do with the recent changes on the youth development side of things?

Don’t know an awful lot about San Jose barring the fact that he clocked up a good 27 games for the Bilbao juniors last season. I don’t think we’ll see him in first team action this year but its nice to see some strong Spanish talent being brought into the younger ranks.
