Day Number One At The Villa

Its day number one and Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign for 2007/2008 against Aston Villa. Thats possibly a good thing for us as the last time we took three points from our opening fixture in the league (as opposed to a draw or anything) was five years ago - against Aston Villa.

Of course, an awful lot has changed in five years. Aston Villa aren’t much better but Liverpool sure have come on in leaps and bounds (but where oh where are the summer transfers?).

Anyway, we’ll be tripping to Villa Park on August 11th for the opening clash against Martin O’Neill’s men before Alan Curbishly takes safe-from-relegation West Ham to Anfield four days later for our opening home fixture.

Our first big clash is against Chelsea in the third fixture (August 18th at home) before Arsenal at the end of October and United in the middle of December. The league campaign finishes out with an away trip to Spurs. Full fixtures at Liverpoolfc.tv.

Update: Strong possibility of the West Ham game being pushed back due to the Champions League - if that was the case then we could be looking at Chelsea as being the first visitors to Anfield in the new campaign.
