Cisse To Remain On Loan At Marseille?

What gives eh? Sell, sell, sell! Sky are reporting that Djibril Cisse will possibly remain on at Marselle, but as an extension to his current loan agreement. Sure enough, in this market it might be hard to shift Cisse for the €12m that Liverpool reportedly want for him but can some agreement not be reached? He’s hardly going to be welcomed back to Liverpool and any further extension to his loan only reduces the value of Cisse who as it is hasn’t had the most fantastic of seasons this year.

Mind you, he’s still seven goals in 19 league games for Marseille this season, compared 9 in 33 for Liverpool last season, also grabbing a further seven goals in other competitions this season.

Pape Diouf says talks should begin once Ligue 1 culminates, following the Champions League final but the decision should have been made a long time ago. One thing is for certain, he won’t be coming back to Anfield and the club should be cashing in at this stage rather than looking at extending Cisse’s loan for another year. Don’t you think?

Personally I do not agree with the comments you have made. As you need to remember Cisse is still only young and is also still gaining full fitness.

I think he should return to Liverpool, he will prove you wrong by having a great season.

I think most Liverpool supporters would love to have him back at Anfield.

I’ve turned around on Cisse, I’ll agree he’s a good player but he was a great player in France, not so much in the Premier League. Sure enough he had his bad injuries but he failed to live up to the billing.

I was long an advocate of Djibril Cisse before he arrived at Anfield, thrilled when he scored that goal against Spurs on the first day of the season but it went downhill from there. He was underutilised, played out of position but still showed a failure to adapt.

He’s a proven goalscorer in Ligue 1, maybe the loan season there will have done him good but it still doesn’t put him in a position to jump back into the Liverpool team ahead of Kuyt, Crouch and Bellamy all now proven Premier League players, hence I can’t see him coming back to Liverpool full stop.

If that is the case then isn’t it better to sell him now rather than leave him on loan?

Got something to say?
