Live: Liverpool 0 - 0 Bolton
January 1, 2007
Its still all square at Anfield at half time with the scores clocking in at 0 - 0.
We’ve had a few good chances, Steve Finnan cracking one from the edge of the box to force a save onto the crossbar, the Irish defender on top form in today’s game. Finnan turned provider for Peter Crouch around 35 minutes as well only for Crouch to glance his header wide of the right post. Wedged in between was some great buildup Liverpool buildup play to set Xabi Alonso off on a shot, curling just inches wide from the edge of the box.
Liverpool by far look the strongest team both up front and at the back and I would really be surprised if we didn’t score in the second half.

Off To Bolton We Go
January 1, 2007
The New Year is no time to be dropping points and God knows that against Bolton we’ve a habit of dropping the ball a few times when we should easily be in control.
Spurs was a good game and good motivation for this afternoon’s match. Credit to Bolton, they’ve played fantastic thus far in the season, thanks in part to ex-Red Nic Anelka (who I STILL think should have come back to Liverpool instead of winding up at Bolton). While we’re level on games, Bolton sit two points clear in third place and Liverpool need to take the win today to avoid falling another game behind.
No word yet this morning as to whether Bellamy will feature in the game, the Welshman picking up a knock against Spurs in the last game. Bolton played real well against Portsmouth on Saturday and came away with a close 3-2 but well deserved nonetheless and while we’re still unbeaten at home there is no way the team can let down their guard against Sam Allardyce’s men.
Going back to the start of the season there I doubt there was any way that Allardyce and all the Trotters could have seen themselves sitting in third place at the turn of the year, never mind being ahead of both Liverpool and Arsenal at this point in the season.
Statistically, the odds would go in Liverpool’s favour - Bolton having failed to beat Liverpool at Anfield in over 50 years. Plus, we’re still unbeaten in the league at home and have been since last season when Chelsea knocked seven shades out of us. Gary Speed and Ivan Campo showed us up big style in September but today is all Liverpool. We’ve got to get the win, got to keep the momentum going, and have to start the New Year on the right foot.
The game kicks off at 12:45pm with coverage (I presume) on the usual channels. Don’t know if Today FM are covering it on the radio but if you can’t get near Sky Sports you’ll find the game on either LiverpoolFC.tv (audio)
