Reina Gives Up On Title
Pepe Reina has conceded the title race, marking another year that Liverpool give up on the title. Though, after yesterday’s show, some of the players must be finding it a bit hard - especially Reina.
I myself wasn’t expecting the start or current run of form by Man United who sit 14 points clear of us after yesterday’s shambles. Speaking earlier today Reina said
Fourth place is our target now - we have to fight for that. The championship is probably too far away for us because mathematically Manchester United and Chelsea are very superior. But we have a lot of confidence in Europe and that is a target as well. We are probably a better team in the Champions League than in the Premiership.
Confidence in Europe is one thing, we’ve been successful in Europe with both the UEFA Cup and Champions League in the past few seasons but it seems like the day will never come when we take our place back at the top of the league. Again, it comes down to poor away form and it still seems like there’s nothing we can do about it and until we do, we’ll always be second best, or in Reina’s eyes, fourth at a maximum.
