Result: Bordeaux 0 - 1 Liverpool

All three points for Liverpool who moved another step closer to qualification for the last sixteen with a 1-0 win over Bordeaux this evening. Liverpool’s only goal, the club’s 150th goal away from home in Europe was bagged by Peter Crouch, getting his head on the end of Craig Bellamy’s corner just before the hour mark.

Chances were plentiful for Liverpool who really should have done better in the first half and make the game move to their advantage but it was the second half that brought life to the side to go out and win the game before facing United at the weekend.

The second half also saw the introduction of Momo Sissoko and Dirk Kuyt who both got almost 30 minutes each on the field when neither were really expected to play earlier in the week.

In the other game in the group tonight, former Liverpool defender Jan Kromkamp helped helped PSV recover from a first half Galatasaray goal to win their game 2-1.

The win for Liverpool comes at a good time as we’ve a tricky enough test on Sunday going up against United. Nice to recover for a recent run of bad form, good to see both Kuyt and Momo on the field in the second half, good to have Stevie back for the weekend and hopefully we can get to Old Trafford and secure three of what are becoming very vital points at this stage of the season.

Final score from France - Liverpool 1, Bordeaux 0.
