Xabi Alonso Not For Sale
Peace of mind for Liverpool fans this morning as Rafa Benitez has categorically stated that Xabi Alonso is going nowhere. In fairness, Liverpool would be mad to sell him. Reports were rife during the week that Real had been in touch with the player’s agent and club in relation to a possible €25m bid for the player to line up alongside Emerson in the new look Real Madrid team when Fabio Capello got nowhere with Cesc Fabregas.
Nice to know you can enjoy your Sunday breakfast without choking over pictures of Alonso in a Madrid jersey!

Got something to say?

This is indeed a relief! I wonder if, prior to the new season, Alonso will be offered a new contract. Would you know how many years remain on his current deal? Given the impact that he’s had at the club, it would be nice to see him commit long-term to LFC.
Haven’t a clue Neil to be honest with whats left on his contract, I would assume that there are 2 years left on his current deal which might mean an extension by the time we hit Christmas. He’s almost had 90 games already for the club so thats doing pretty well!
