Bellamy Delight, Time For Impact
Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko all have Craig Bellamy as a big fan, and I’m delighted to see it.
- On Gerrard… “…one of the best midfielders in the world”
- On Alonso… “I’ve still to see a better passer…He’s an incredible player”
- On Sissoko… “…awesome when I played against him last year”
Bellamy has spoken out about about his love for the club and his arrival at Liverpool but has now expressed his excitement and delight at linking up with the rest of the squad who return to training this week following a break after the World Cup.
With Bellamy’s determination and pace I’m starting to wonder if we’ll be seeing the new Michael Owen at Liverpool. Bit of a strong comparison to be making at this stage of the game but the potential for a big impact is certainly there.
Bellamy worked out at a goal every other game at Blackburn last season, 13 goals in 27 appearances for the club (while also bagging 7 out of 12 at Celtic) but with the quality of service to the forward line this year through a more matured Alonso and Sissoko, as well as Gerrard I’ve got no doubt that the Welshman will be making big waves at the club this season.
Bellamy will succeed where Cissé failed. The pace is there and the attitude is there, but where Cissé lacked the knowledge and experience of the English game, Bellamy has it in abundance. Time at Coventry, Norwich, Newcastle, Celtic and Blackburn has assured him of this and I’m sharing in his delight of his hook up with the full squad and wish him all the best for the season.
Another goal against Crewe would be just the ticket as well ![]()
