Top Seed Spot For Liverpool

Great news when you see that Liverpool are going to be among the top seeds for this year’s Group Stage of the Champions League should the club manage to get past the third round, the opposition only being announced next Friday afternoon.

Always the possibility of us seeing Chelsea paired with Barcelona at the Group Stage as Chelsea have yet again been handed a second seed position, having won the Premier League two seasons running.

Being top seeded means that we can avoid Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Man Utd, Valencia and Lyon while also avoiding Chelsea under the country rule. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the likes of Celtic or Roma (remember those great CL games against Roma?) wind up in our group though, both sides ranked among the second seeds.
